Stormy Day Wristers

Updated: Apr 3, 2018

So I seem to be in a rut making wristers (the afghan I'm working on is too big to travel. These are small projects perfect for down time away from home).

Materials: worsted yarn in varying (or solid) color of your choice.

Needles: 4 mm (I knit loosely so I just smaller needles than yarns call for unless I want something super loose). These are knit flat.

CHECK YOUR PERSONAL GAGE AND RECIPIENT HAND SIZE. Adjust cast on as needed.

Leaving a long tail (for sewing up part of the side later), cast on 24

2x2 rib border:

row 1: *k2 p2*

row 2: *k2 p2* (knit the knit purl the purl)

repat rows 1 and 2 one more time.

main body: garter stitch

knit across all rows to desired length (these are 45 rows)

final row: *k1p1* across and cast off. Leave a long tail before cutting.

Using tapestry needle and your yarn tails, put right sides together and sew up the sides leaving room for the thumb. These are sewn about 2 1/2 inches from top. Between 2.5 and 3 inches for them and then 4 inches at the bottom. These are bigger than ones I make for myself—hopefully large and stretchy enough for a man’s hand.

with the final row, is the k1 p1 the cast off row?

Replying to

The instructions state to k1, p1 then to cast off so it is not the cast off row, since it is being done after completing that row.
